Looked for scam stuff on acetone on the net. NOTHING really

Octane and Mileage

In fact, this article confirms it very decisively. I bought some today and will try in our next tank. It should take 3 full tanks before we can define our mileage for certain. Let you know.

"ACETONE as an additive is very high in octane. By itself, it is rated at 150. Acetone will increase your mileage more than any other common additive. But watch it and do not get acetone on your paint. It only takes 2 to 3 ounces per ten gallons to greatly improve fuel vaporization. We try not to add too much acetone into our gasoline because it can raise the octane too high for best mileage. Acetone acts like an electron absorber. There is a chart in our ACETONE article explaining the correct use of acetone in your fuel. We treat acetone as a vaporization tool rather than an actual fuel component because the aim is to reduce the amount of unburned fuel speeding out the exhaust."
