A lesson that should be taught in all schools . . And colleges!

verified at snopes: http://www.snopes.com/glurge/nodesks.asp
A lesson that should be taught in all schools . . And colleges!
Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock, did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom. When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.
'Ms. Cothren, where're our desks?' She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.' They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.' 'No,' she said. 'Maybe it's our behavior.' She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'
And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom. By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms. Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room. The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the desk-less classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.'
At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it. Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned. Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.'
By the way, this is a true story.

I'd like to thank a friend for sharing this:

Fwd: Will They EVER Keep THEIR Promises?

I want to thank my friend for sending this, but I have to correct her.  I wasn't just a promise.  It was an OATH.

If they cannot keep their oaths then they should be forced out for spitting on the graves of those who died keeping theirs.

This young veteran said it all...now, we must do the same, and if we're not heard with our voices, our ACTIONS/VOTES will ring loud and clear.  Remind your elected officials who their bosses are, and that there is no such thing as job security in Washington, D.C... just ask Dick Gephardt, or any other so-called "senior statesman" who no longer has a job of representing the constituency!

Its not a threat when it comes true---telling YOUR elected officials YOU WILL NOT VOTE FOR THEM is not a threat--Just DONT!

Fwd: Tip 177 - Three Steps to Kick Social Anxiety and Become Comfortable Approaching Anyone

This is the number one reason Oil & Gas engineers, accountants, and geeks don't network.

Fear holds them back.

Here is my mentor Keith on the subject.

Tip 177 - Three Steps to Kick Social Anxiety and Become Comfortable Approaching Anyone
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are you letting social anxiety stop you from reaching out to the influential people who could transform your success? Then you'll be interested in today's blog post.

Marcus Buckingham, author and leader of the Strengths Movement, overcame stuttering and social anxiety to become one of the most in-demand speakers and talk show guests on the circuit. To this day, he says he gets "throw-up nervous" before engagements. It doesn't stop him.

As for me, I don't have so much trouble with live stages, but put me in front of a camera and I immediately start to sweat. And even today, there are individuals who I need to talk myself into approaching. That self-talk is part of the three-step process that I share today. I hope it helps you reach out to your next great relationship.

Warmest,
Keith

Pray for our government

Whether you agree or not, have you prayed?

You don't have to agree.

You don't have to feel helpless.

You can have hope.

Pray specifically and often for our leaders by name and put your hope in the hands of God Almighty.

He has a plan and he will keep us in his hands.

I pray for President Obama.

Lord, please give our President whom You put in place over our country the wisdom to do what is right for us all.  Give him the humility to come to You for his needs.  Give him peace.  Give him all of the tools he needs to succeed.

We are in the same boat with President Obama.  You are in control.  Please use President Obama to keep us safe and do Your will.  Give him favor amongst the nations.  Give him success for our success.  Bless him so we can share in the blessing.  We know he is our political umbrella and You can only bless us as much as You can bless him.  You can only protect us as much as he allows You to work in his life.

Thank you Lord for your favor and blessing and loving caring hands.

Eric

10-Reasons to For Alternative Funding options by APC

1. Significantly increase the cash flow of your business
• Earned cash is-available for qualified receivables in as little as 24-hours.

2. Use readily available cash to grow your business
• Funds generated by factoring can be used for new equipment acquisitions, inventory purchases, marketing expenditures/ facility improvements, etc. that otherwise may not have been feasible when you needed them most.

3. The process is very efficient and reliable
• Once approved, our clients trust American Prudential Capital for a userfriendly approach to doing business each and every month. Payments to our clients are dependable because we understand what a predictable stream of cash can mean to the life of any business.

4. Use what you need when you need it
• There are NO required monthly minimums for factoring and no long-term obligations. We recognize that factoring should be a "bridge mechanismfl to more traditional financing and that typically our services are a season in the life of most businesses.

5. Capital availability is flexible
• Factoring is the only means of business financing that can grow proportionally and immediately with your business as you need it.

6. Minimize internal costs associated with collections
• Your company will spend less time on collections since we take on most of this task. Thereby, you can focus more of your efforts on higher valueadded activities such as sales and production.

7. Better knowledge of your customer's credit
• We are extremely proficient at verifying your customer's credit and ultimately their ability to pay your invoices. This enables you to make more informed decisions on where to target your efforts for the greatest gain and minimize your bad debt write-offs.

8. Leverage your customer's credit rating
• Your customer's good credit rating is one of the strongest assets you can have when factoring. It is their positive history as much as anything that makes this process work for you.

9. Factoring is not a loan
• No debt is created when factoring so there is NO negative impact on your financials. You are not using long-term debt to satisfy a short-term need for cash. This increases your appeal to traditional lenders because factoring creates cash in your bank account and not debt on your Balance Sheet.

10. Take advantage of early payment discounts to suppliers
• Minimize some of your factoring costs by leveraging supplier offered discounts for early payment and simultaneously increase your credit rating.

Fwd: U.S., G8 give Iran a September deadline

Pass it on.

U.S., G8 GIVES IRAN A SEPTEMBER DEADLINE

* Russian president warns Israel not to strike
* Concern growing that Russia could attack Georgia again.

By Joel C. Rosenberg

(WASHINGTON, D.C., August 18, 2009) -- The Obama administration and the leaders of the G8 industrialized nations have given Iran a deadline of September to accept serious, high-level negotiations over its nuclear program or risk stiffer economic sanctions. Thus far, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his senior aides have rejected any negotiations with the "infidels." And the clock is running.

In that context, Israeli President Shimon Peres met with his Russian counterpart, President Dmitry Medvedev, in the Black Sea resort town of Sochi Monday. During the meeting, Peres expressed Israel's serious and growing concern about the state of the Russian-Iranian alliance, Russia's continued assistance to Iran's nuclear program, the extreme views of the Iranian regime, and the gravity of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons.

"The problem in Iran is not just the desire to develop nuclear weapons but the character of the regime," said Peres. "Mr. President, I am a Jew, and a large part of my family [from Belarus] was murdered by the Nazis and I cannot sit with my hands folded while I hear the declarations of the president of Iran calling for the destruction of the state of Israel."

"From my standpoint, a nuclear bomb in Iran's hands means one thing - an airborne death camp," Peres said.

Medvedev gave no indication that Russia intends to change it's policy towards Iran, though he reiterated Moscow's official policy that it does not want Iran to develop nuclear weapons. On Friday, however -- before Peres' arrival -- Medvedev publicly declared the Kremlin's opposition to more economic sanctions against Iran and then went further to warn Israel of the grave dangers of launching a preemptive strike against Iran's nuclear facilities.

It's too soon, of course, to know whether Iran will eventually agree to negotiations (perhaps to buy more time to complete its nuclear weapons development), or will stiff the West entirely. The Obama administration has pinned a lot of hope on the President's ability to persuade Tehran to "engage." We will see if he is successful.

In a separate but related note, there are growing concerns expressed by evangelical Christian leaders in Georgia that Russia may be preparing to attack the small democratic republic. More details and analysis are available on my weblog.

P.S. -- For an update on the Iran nuclear crisis, please join us on Friday night, September 11th for the "National Town Hall Meeting on the Threat of Radical Islam and the Church's Response." By then, we should have a somewhat clearer sense of what is happening and whether the prospect for another war in the epicenter is rising or diminishing.

Nearly 300 churches have signed up to show the two-hour webcast to their congregations that night, 7pm to 9pm eastern. We hope you can join us. More information is available at www.insidetherevolution.org, including a partial list of churches that are participating and details on how your congregation can sign up to show a high-resolution webcast in your sanctuary.

Please sign petition

It only makes sense:

Congressman John Fleming (Louisiana physician) has proposed an amendment that would require congressmen and senators to take the same healthcare plan they apply to us (under proposed legislation they are curiously exempt).

Congressman Fleming is encouraging...urging people to go on his Website and sign his petition (very simple - just first, last and email).

I have immediately done just that at: http://fleming.house.gov/

You Scare Me

It is hard not to agree with this.

Successful corporate executives everywhere recognize him as the foremost leader in change management. AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and, unlike any of the others, you truly scare me. You scare me because, after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support. You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America , and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others. You scare me because, for over half your life, you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America , and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame-America' crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European-style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector. You scare me because you want to replace our health-care system with a government-controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'windmills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term, I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

It checks out.  I went to the snopes site and it confirms it (which is rare).

Obama, you're destroying America.  I already feel like I live in a foreign country; not the one I sacrificed for in service in the military but you could NEVER understand that.

You are NO American.

Do opposing view points really scare you that much?

Re: H.J. RES.5--Ending Term Limits for President!!!

Are they serious???????

This better die or there will be a revolution because of this resolution.

This is an actual resolution according to the U.S. Congressional website! While many have tried to eliminate term-limits in the past, never has it been in such a dangerous political environment, as when Barack Obama was elected. Let's pray this dies a quick death.

Being part native American, I think y'all can all get off my land.

Being part white (an looking more like a white man than anything else) I totally understand where Mr. Buchanan is coming from.

Cancel all race benefits, welfare, and handouts and lets all just act like the brothers we are.  We are, no matter whom you ask and their religious believe, descended from one couple.  That makes us all one race: the Human Race.

So, even though my white brothers and my black brothers and my asian brothers don't have any claim to this land you call America, I served in the Military and gave up my rights in sacrifice for this imperfect country of idiots who still run around like little children complaining that life ain't fair.  "Ain't Fair?"  Tell me what is fair about having this huge country stolen from you.  But, do you hear the smallest minority in America, native Americans, complain?  NO SIR.

> By  Patrick J.  Buchanan
>
> Barack says we need to have a  conversation about  race in America . Fair  enough. But this time, it has  to be a two-way  conversation. White America  needs to be heard from,  not just lectured to..  This time, the Silent  Majority needs to have its  convictions, grievances  and demands heard.. And among  them are  these:
>
> First, America has  been  the best country on earth for black folks. It was  here that  600,000 black  people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew  into a  community of 40  million, were introduced to Christian salvation,  and  reached the greatest  levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever   known. Wright ought to  go down on his knees and thank God he is an   American.
>
> Second, no  people anywhere has done more to lift  up blacks than white Americans.  Untold trillions have been spent since the  ' 60s on welfare, food  stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell  grants, student loans,   legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits  and poverty programs   designed to bring the African-American community into  the mainstream.

> Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in  discrimination  against  white folks -- with affirmative action, contract  set-asides and  quotas -- to  advance black applicants over white  applicants. Churches,  foundations,  civic groups, schools and individuals  all over America have  donated their  time and money to support soup  kitchens, adult education,  day care,  retirement and nursing homes for  blacks.
>
> We hear the  grievances. Where is the  gratitude???
>
> Barack talks  about new 'ladders of opportunity'  for blacks. Let him go to  Altoona ?   And Johnstown , and ask the  white kids in Catholic schools how  many  were visited lately by Ivy League  recruiters handing out  scholarships  for 'deserving' white kids.? Is white  America really responsible for the   fact that the crime and incarceration  rates for African-Americans are   seven times those of white America ?  Is it really white America 's  fault  that illegitimacy in the  African-American community has hit 70  percent and  the black dropout rate  from high schools in some cities has  reached 50   percent?
>
> Is that the  fault of white America or, first and  foremost, a failure of
> the black  community  itself?
>
> As for racism,  its ugliest manifestation is in  interracial crime, and
> especially  interracial crimes of violence.. Is  Barack Obama aware that while  white  criminals choose black victims 3  percent of the time, black
> criminals  choose white victims 45 percent of  the time?
>
> Is Barack aware  that black-on-white rapes are 100  times more common than  the reverse,  that black-on-white robberies were 139  times as common in the  first  three years of this decade as the  reverse?
>
> We have all  heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al  about Tawana Brawley, the  Duke rape  case and Jena . And all turned out to  be hoaxes. But about the  epidemic  of black assaults on whites that are  real, we hear  nothing.

> Sorry, Barack,  some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40  trillion tax  dollars ago.
> We are a Christian  Nation even if Mr. Obama says we are not.
> This needs to be passed around  because, this is a message everyone needs  to  hear!!!
