How can you share an ebook on your blog?

One way to put a whitepaper or ebook which you have distribution rights to on your site is to upload it to a server.

If you aren't technically inclined and want a way to do that without paying anything, then consider http://www.bestsharing.com .

  1. Find your SYG on your computer, and note its location
  2. Go to www.bestsharing.com and in the upper right hand corner click browse and find your SYG file using that dialog and click ok.
  3. Click Upload
  4. After uploading, the next page has a link to the page where your file's link is, click it.
  5. Now on that page is a Download link. Right mouse click the download link and copy the link location
  6. Paste that link in an email or blog posting and viola.

Here is my link to Slay Your Giant by Tim Darnell for which I have distribution rights and which normally sells for $29.95 but which I am giving away complimentary to all of my readers: SlayYourGiant.pdf

Good Computing!

Simple way to edit html emails for broadcasting to autoreponders

Do you have an html email you need to edit and get the html to put into your broadcast function of your autoresponder?

You can use the article posting functionality of blogger.com to do this very easily.

I have the google toolbar and the blogger blog this icon enabled so that whatever I want to copy and past into a post editor really quick to make some changes and copy the html out for my autoresponder I can.

To get the google toolbar, you can go to http://toolbar.google.com and download the one right for your browser.

Once installed you might have to restart your browser for it to appear.  Then if you are using gmail or another web-based mail interface you can just select the text and graphics you want to work with, copy it, then past it into the rich text editor portion of the blog editor by clicking that blogger (orange button with white b) button which will pop up a new window and probably ask you to log into your blogger account.

Once you have it in the rich text part of the editor, you can make your changes, and then to get the html just hit the edit html link in the upper right and you will get the html you need to copy out and past into your autoresponder's message body.

To your success!

Blogging overwhelming?

Just like anything worthwhile, without passion blogging ain't worth it.

Find your passion, then start with the simplest path to get started.  Afterwards you can always improve.

What one subject do you have passion about?  What would get you to make black and white statements?  What do you feel so strong about that you get into arguments about?  If it were a political issue, what would make you want to be a politician?

Start with that.  Find that purpose.  You may think you can find thousands of blogs like that.  So what?  Leadership is not pushed on someone.  You take a stand and stand by it to become a leader.  Fear and Faith are both belief in something not seen, Faith is just belief in a happy ending instead of a sad one.  Like the difference between black and white, Fear and Faith as well as a good blog and a bad blog are worlds apart.  The difference is a passion.

Find your passion, then go to blogger.com and start your first blog.  You can do it!

'Tax Tips You Can Bank On' Issue 5-20-06

I recommend this author's book, if you'd like the link write a comment to this post and I will send it to you right away.

It's not just you...

Washington lawmakers couldn't prepare
their own Tax Returns without help, either!

I thought you'd enjoy this article by AP reporter
Mary Dalrymple as reported in the Charlotte
News on April 16, 2006....

WASHINGTON - When it comes to their own
tax returns, many members of Congress who
specialize in writing tax laws turn to professional
preparers rather than completing the paperwork
themselves.

"It's onerous and everybody knows it," said Rep.
Richard Neal, D-Mass.

Three of the four top lawmakers on the Senate
Finance and House Ways and Means committees,
which are in charge of writing tax laws, pay a
professional to file their annual tax returns with
the Internal Revenue Service.

The exception is the Ways and Means chairman,
Rep. Bill Thomas, R-Calif. The former college
professor said he has prepared his own return
"forever" and that he waits until close to the deadline
to file. Monday is the filing deadline for most people.

"There's no reason for me to pay Uncle Sam - pay,
you heard that - until I have to," he said.

How about one of the tax writers who could become
chairman after Thomas retires at year's end?

"Absolutely not," said Rep. Jim McCrery, R-La.
"I'm not an accountant. I'm a lawyer."

According to IRS statistics, that makes these
members of Congress much like the public. More
than 60 percent of taxpayers turn to a paid pro-
fessional to prepare their returns. The number
typically increases a little each year.

Some lawmakers have more complicated financial
lives than the average taxpayer, making their
returns more complicated. Some said they had a
professional do the job to guarantee the return's
accuracy.

David Keating, senior counselor at the National
Taxpayers Union, said lawmakers should at least
try to complete their own returns. Members of
tax-writing committees should have to spend
20 hours working on their tax returns before
giving up and handing the job to a professional,
he suggested.

"If they're going to sit on a tax-writing committee,
it certainly makes a lot of sense for them at least
to attempt to do their own tax return," Keating said.
"And when they scream out 'Torture!' to their tax
preparer, at least they'd have a better view."

A few do dive in on their own.

Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said he does them "just
so I can go through the process." Then he asks
an accountant to check for mistakes.

Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., usually prepares his
own taxes using computer software. Sen. Mike
Crapo, R-Idaho, does his tax return and his children's.

Rep. Kevin Brady's wife, a former banker, prepares
the tax returns for the Texas Republican's family.

Rep. Jim Ramstad, R-Minn., does not do his own
returns, but he agreed it might be a good idea to try.
"I think it is important that we operate in the real
world," he said.

These lawmakers have offered ideas to simplify the
tax system, but none has gotten close to enactment.

Rep. John Linder, R-Ga., dislikes the tax system so
much that he wants to scrap individual tax filing and
the Internal Revenue Service. He would trade the
income tax system for a consumption tax.

A less drastic change is advocated by Sen. Ron
Wyden, D-Ore. He did not prepare his real tax returns,
but he was able to prepare a hypothetical tax return
in 30 minutes based on his proposed simplified tax
system.

"This last fact is truly revolutionary because no one can
remember the last time a member of the tax-writing
Senate Finance Committee actually completed their
own tax return," he said.

That's not exactly a "Tax Tip You Can Bank On," but
I thought you might find it amusing - or frustrating.

New Windows version will force you to make a choice: Buy a bigger better computer, or reload with a better alternative

Google News reports on the new Windows OS

OS means the basic software that allows you to run your other software on your computer.

Microsoft's newest OS will not fit on your computer now more than likely. So, when they phase out support for older OSes, and your computer is riddled with trojans, worms, and viruses or you just cannot use the software you want on your older OS, then you will be forced to either buy a new computer or try an alternative.

I want you to know that you do have an alternative, and they are in the hundreds and they are all getting better and better by the month.

I am currently writing you from one such alternative.

When that time comes, don't give up on what you have and don't move hastily in either direction. Let's look at the options and move your important data into a safe place and then just fall back on the "try before you buy" option. Yes, you can test alot of the alternatives right now without even installing anything.

Maybe you'd want to try them now to get an idea of what you are missing so that when the inevitable comes, and it surely will, you will be ready.

Official Google Blog: Never browse outdated posts again: "Today we launched a new feature on Google Blog Search that lets you narrow your search by date. Using this feature, you can track blog posts on your favorite topics according to when those items were posted. We've also incorporated some improvements in search quality that should make your blog-search experience even better.

GSpace Extension for Firefox

Do you use firefox to browse the internet? If you do, do you use Google's 2.7 gb free email service gmail.com ? If you don't, you shoudl fix those.
1. Firefox has all kinds of community developed tools that help make your day easier. One is gspace. See below.
2. Gmail has the largest and growing space available for free email, and their spam, virus, and phishing protection are awesome.
Combined together with this feature below called gSpace, you wont need a USB thumb/flash drive in your pocket to move files. Instead you can just login to your gmail account in gSpace and upload files you need somewhere else and access them from anywhere.
Gmail File Space FAQs: "This extension allows you to use your Gmail Space (2 GB) for file storage. It acts as a remote machine. You can transfer files between your hard drive and gmail. This is similar to 'Gmail Drive' on windows platform. Your gmail account looks like a FTP host and you can upload and download your files. After you install, you get an option called 'GSpace' in your 'tools' menu clicking on which opens the window for transfer of folders/files."

Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic Syndrome: "People with the metabolic syndrome are at increased risk of coronary heart disease and other diseases related to plaque buildups in artery walls (e.g., stroke and peripheral vascular disease) and type 2 diabetes. The metabolic syndrome has become increasingly common in the United States. It’s estimated that over 50 million Americans have it."

This came up on Japanese headline news. I just had to pass this on. You can cut your risks just by walking 20 minutes a day. That is a good investment for the rest of your life.

Don't push your business on people too early.  Make a friend first and you'll find it easier to talk about your business.

People don't care about how much you know until they know how much you care.

In this week's Case Study, you're going to love reading this
conversation and marvel that people like VerryFunny are actually online.

To download the pdf file of Case Study #5 just right-click the link below and choose Save Target As or left click to view.

If you don't know how to Instant Message, I recommend not limiting yourself to just one service and instead download the following and create a user on each system: http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/

You can find people to meet in your area very easily.  I will post on that next.

Red Fridays -- Support our Troops

This would be a good opportunity to make an iron on ad and put it on a bunch of red t-shirts and hand them out with this letter.  Just another marketing idea from CrusaderX. <grin>

Red Fridays.

----- Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority." We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday--and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that... Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is...We need your support and your prayers. Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example; and wear something red every Friday.

IF YOU AGREE -- THEN SEND THIS ON. IF YOU COULDN'T CARE LESS -- THEN HIT THE DELETE BUTTON -- IT IS YOUR CHOICE. WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE.

Take email addresses in a column and make them a comma separated list

I often get asked how to take a list of email addresses from a column in a table on the internet and turn it into a comma separated list for using to email that group.  The question usually arises in connection with emailing to undeliverable email addresses from an autoresponder system.

This represents one way you can do this:
1. copy the table from the internet like below:

E-mail address
Status
123@coldmail.com
Attempt #5. Deleted.
4@iwon.com
Attempt #4. Deleted.
123456@dfa.state.ny.us Attempt #4. Deleted.
aaa@yahoo.com Attempt #4. Deleted.

2. Paste special unformatted text into a new spreadsheet.
3. Delete any unwanted rows and columns like the title row and the status column above so that you have:
123@coldmail.com
4@iwon.com
123456@dfa.state.ny.us
aaa@yahoo.com
4. Select the cells with the data you want, and cut it from the spreadsheet.
5. Paste special making sure that the "Transpose" has a check mark to change this data set into a row like this:
123@coldmail.com
4r@iwon.com
123456@dfa.state.ny.us aaa@yahoo.com
6. File > Save As the file changing the save as a type to: Text CSV with a .csv extension to a location you know how to get to like your desktop.
7. Open the file you just saved in excel as a CSV file WITH notepad using the right mouse menu option "Open With" and selecting notepad either from that short list or from the "Choose Program" option.
8. Copy line of comma separated email addresses or the portion you wish to email to like this:
"123@coldmail.com ","4@iwon.com"," 123456@dfa.state.ny.us "," aaa@yahoo.com "
9. Paste this in either the to: or better yet the bcc: portion of a new email, type your email and send.

News - Ford Sales Hit by Boycott - Center for Reclaiming America: "Ford Sales Hit by Boycott
Monday, May 08, 2006

Written By A. Urti

Ford dealers across the nation are saying that the boycott which the Center, as well as other pro-family organizations have instituted is beginning to take a toll. The Detroit News reports that churches and congregants across America have joined the boycott, saying “they won’t buy Ford cars until the company stops supporting organizations working to legalize gay marriage.”

Dr. Gary Cass, Executive Director of the Center for Reclaiming America for Christ, has been clear that “If Ford wishes to disregard its values-oriented clientele, then the company should be prepared to do without our hard earned dollars.”

But why join the boycott?

Skyp Conferencing

Consider using Skype for large number conference calls.

TechCrunch » News Bits: Skype, Pandora and Meebo: "Skype is releasing version 2.5 beta of its client software on Wednesday. There are some cool new features: the ability to send and SMS to any worldwide cell phone, improved conference calling (you see who’s talking), and other small improvements.

Skype is also launching a preview of Skypecasts, a free new product that allows live, moderated Skype conversations of up to 100 people. The host may controls mute, eject and “microphone pass”. Skypecasts may be prescheduled and promoted via html snippets.

Skype is still lacking a record feature, and while there are some good third party products out there to bridge the gap, none seem to work on the new Intel Macs."
