Tip 93 - Connect for the Success of Your Child
You attended Back-To-School Night and you're on helping-with-homework duty, but that's not all you should be doing this new school year. You should be building a relationship with your child's teacher, who is an important person in your child's life. Public schoolteachers usually spend their own money on classroom supplies, so she would be grateful if you donated books in good condition. If your child is studying animals and their environments in science, and you read an article on about polar bears and melting ice caps, print it out and send it in with your kid. You just gave the teacher a gift of 15 minutes of engaging instructional time. Let the teacher know that she is appreciated with a kind note or a few words. Being generous to your child's teacher is the right thing to do - but if your child gets in trouble or needs extra help, you will be glad that you've been helping her with her very difficult job all year long.
